Patrica Kelbaugh
Director

 

Owner and director, of the Patricia Kelbaugh Dance Studio. Patricia Kelbaugh, has been teaching for over 30 years. She studied dance under Jane Prouse and Irene Albert in Baltimore, and later with the Washington School of Ballet. While continuing her studies in dance, she earned a degree in Early Childhood Education and Art at Towson University. Additionally, Ms. Kelbaugh has trained in both vocal and instrumental music for many years and has directed choral music for both children and adult choirs for 20 years.

She has performed in dramatic and musical productions, including a lead role as singer/dancer in "Brigadoon." Ms. Kelbaugh also danced at the Lyric Theatre for a season with the Baltimore Civic Opera Ballet company.

A member of Dance Masters of America, Ms. Kelbaugh has passed three national examinations in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz. She is Past President of Chapter 17, Inc. of Dance Masters of America. For two years, she taught dance to the visually handicapped at the Maryland School for the Blind. She presently holds workshops and seminars in Religious Dance.

For four years, she directed a Liturgical Dance Troupe in Rockville. For 23 years, she has directed Liturgical Dance at week-long youth music and arts workshops sponsored by the Fellowship of United Methodist Musicians. She teaches beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels of Ballet, Tap, and Jazz, as well as Competition Classes.

Wendy Huff
Assistant Director/Instructor

 

Wendy Huff, has been studying dance for over 20 years, She began her dance training under the leadership of her mother (Patricia Kelbaugh) and various other teaches. She continued her studies at Towson University and holds several credits in dance.

Wendy has won many awards, the most recent being the Bernice Warner Scholorship for three years in a row for Dance Masters of America for Teachers Training. As an exceptional graduating student, she won still another scholorship to return for post graduate training and was then elected to DMA membership.

Wendy has been teaching at Patricia Kelbaugh Dance Studio for many years, first as a Student Assistant and later as a Teacher. She teaches Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Lyrical, as well as Competition Classes.

Sanantha (Sam) Brown /Instructor


 

Samantha Brown is currently a Junior at the University of the Arts majoring in Jazz Dance.

She has studied with fantastic choreographers like Christopher Huggins, Louis Johnson, and several others. She was trained by Janette Brown, National Past President of Dance Masters of America, and soon to be President of Chapter 17.

She has been an instructor at The Janette Brown Studio of Dance for over 6 years, educating children 3-21 years old in tap, jazz, and ballet. Samantha's DMA credits include, several scholarship class wins, Teen Ms. Dance of Chapter 17 2004, and Ms. Dance of Chapter 17 2006.

Her latest endeavor was opening for Sting at the Academy House Fundraiser for the Philadelphia Orchestra.


Jess Guerrero /Instructor

 

 

 

Jess Guerrero, from Seattle, WA graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA with a Certificate in Dance in 2010. She went to work for Matt Davenport Productions at Hershey Park, PA in the world premiere of "Rock the Jukebox" and "Home Sweet Home for Christmas". After that contract she went to work as a magicians assistant in "The Magic of Saipan" where she got the opportunity to choreograph 2 new works for the show. She switched gears again and went to perform for Midtown Arts Center in Fort Collins, CO for a production of "In The Heights" where she was in the ensemble. Most recently she has finished a National tour of "Super WHY!" produced by S2BN Entertainment as the swing. 

She has also performed with dance companies such as SD Prism ll, DoubleTake Dance, and Neville Dance Theatre. 

Along with performing, Jess was the assistant director and taught class in Ballet and Contemporary at Glushko's Academy of the Performing Arts in Saipan. However, she has subbed at Backstage Dance Studio many times and has taught jazz for DMA's Convention, Chapter #39.
